A beer brewed by the monks

The monks of Saint-Wandrille have become brewers in order to provide the financial resources necessary for the life of the community and building maintence.
The first beer to come out of Saint-Wandrille is a deeply coloured pale ale with a good hoppy flavour, smooth and refreshing, made at the abbey from cereals and hops grown only in France. This is the only beer in France to be produced by monks within their monastery.

Coming soon : the third bay of the cloisters

The restitution of the missing tracery of the five bays of the south range began in 2014, in partnership with three Foundations. Two have already been installed. Work on the third is in progress and will be put in place before summer 2017. The stones are carved by the team from “La Pierre d’Angle” (“The Cornerstone”), a training and reinsertion company, specializing in masonry, stone cutting and heritage restoration. The carved elements are then assembled and installed in the abbey. Some views of the work in progress at the “Pierre d’Angle” site in Brignoles, near Marseille.
